The video was recorded in the Teatro Comunale in Treviso in 1988, and features Carla Fracci and Paul Chalmer.The premiere of La Cigale was on 4 February 1904 at Paris Opéra Comique. This 20-minute compilation of is solos and duets from the first act.

In London in 1970 the 29-year-old prima ballerina Natalia Makarova, performing with Leningrad’s Kirov Ballet (now St Petersberg’s Mariinsky Ballet) defected to the West. Then in the summer of 1988 at the packed 3,200-seat Business Design Centre in London Makarova danced again with her former company, even though her career was ending (she had announced her retirement in 1986). Erik Bruhn choreographed a version of Romeo and Juliet which he and Carla Fracci danced with the Rome Opera Ballet in 1966. Between performances they went to a television studio and recorded the balcony scene seen here. A year later, the two danced it with the American Ballet Theatre in New York.

An eccentric mishmash of music, dance and comedy with Carlo Bergonzi, Valentina Cortese and Rhythm and Blues star Rocky Roberts among the cast. All linked together by Carla Fracci's Clara. А видно с кого брал пример этот исполнитель Золотого божка.) Цискаридзе сквозит во всех движениях и внимательное отношение к ритму в образе (метроритмика), разворты рук, тела и стиль образа - дух Золотого божка Цикаридзе летает в воздухе! И получилось очень достойное исполнение.) Конечно он не так полетен, фееричен и харизматичен как уникальный Золотой божок Цискаридзе, но в целом исполнено достойно.

Who is watching this in 2024?
I love how she does not sacrifice musicality for tricks. Like, she does a lot of tricks, but she has so much control over them that she can actually time them precisely. I hate how a lot of dancers these days seem to think it’s okay to ignore the music just to show off balance/turns. Like, we appreciate the wow factor of tricks, but we still want to see dance.
